Graystone tango style Ballroom

 

This dance is named after a famous dance hall in Detroit, and it is very similar to Argentine tango. Here, instructors Boss Tango do a didactic demo at the end of a class in Flint Michigan. Graystone looks very much like tango in the close embrace, but is done to Soul, R&B, Blues, Jazz and other African-American music. These two are not tangueros, but they'd fit right in at a milonga!I have taking tango classes in Utica Michigan and self teaching with my wife Lorene for about 5 years,this style of dance is kind of diffetcult to learn because of the different variations involed in the dance,Its a 8 count step but most Tango dancers start out on the 2 count not on the 1 becaues the 1 is a back step and tango is dance counter clock wise on the floor.This dance is done at milonga were people dance the dance only.Its difficult to dance tango at urban nite clubs,because most steppers and ballroomers are all over the floor and somebody can get hurt because of the leg flicks and the way the dance traffic is flowing and in most Urban night clubs you have to wait until the music changes, and Its not many people on the dance floor.When my wife and I dance the Argentine Tango we usally get questions like was that Tango or I love to watch you guys Dance,I have dedcated my life to this dance there is a small group of people in Detroit that are passionate about the Argentine Tango.
